Slate needs high speed to avoid over-ablating — lower speed increases depth but reduces contrast.

Good white engrave on slate. Invert your image. The 10W Falcon produces results on slate that match much more expensive machines — slate is one of the best materials for entry-level diode lasers. Wipe clean with a damp cloth after.

Spray with Rustoleum crystal clear enamel before engraving to brighten result. Some users skip coating with good results.
