What is a laser engraving jig?
A jig is a template you cut from scrap material. It holds your items in consistent positions so every engrave is perfectly centred and aligned — no measuring, no tape, no re-homing between pieces.
How do I use this jig SVG?
Import the SVG into LightBurn, xTool Creative Space, or any laser software. Set the dashed outer cell lines to cut (they define the item pocket), and the item outline to cut too. Drop your items into the pockets and engrave with a separate fill layer.
Why is it paid when other tools are free?
Our specific jigs (coaster, business card, tumbler etc.) on the Jigs page take hours to design per machine. A custom generator that replaces hundreds of Etsy jig listings is high-value — $2.99 buy-once for unlimited re-downloads is fair for that.
What padding and margin should I use?
Padding (inside the cell) of 1–2mm gives a snug fit. Margin (between cells) of 3–5mm leaves enough material between pockets so the jig doesn't collapse. On thin material (3mm) use at least 4mm margin.
Can I use this with my existing specific jigs?
Yes. The specific jigs on the /jigs page are machine-optimised with registration marks and proven cell sizes. Use this builder for non-standard item sizes or to create multi-row batches for any shape.
