The Sculpfun S6 Pro is a 6W diode laser engraver. This page lists 73 community-tested settings covering speed, power, passes, air assist, and DPI across a range of materials. Always run a test cut on scrap material first — results vary depending on your material batch, focus, and ambient conditions.
The Sculpfun S6 Pro is a 6W open-frame diode laser from Sculpfun — a step up from entry-level 5W machines. It has a 410×420mm work area and works with LightBurn and LaserGRBL. Best for engraving wood, leather, and cardboard. Cutting capability is limited at 6W. A solid affordable choice for crafters who need more than a 5W but aren't ready for a 10W budget.
Dark or black card cuts cleanly — the dark colour absorbs the diode beam far better than white paper. Shadow box artwork in black card is an excellent fit for the S6 Pro's capabilities. Intricate paper-cut designs work well at slow speed with steady hands on the honeycomb.
Balsa Woodcut

2mm balsa cuts in 2 passes at 6W. Balsa's open cellular structure absorbs the beam efficiently — one of the few materials the S6 Pro cuts reliably. Good for model making and architectural scale models where thin precise cuts are needed.

Kraft paper cuts cleanly at moderate speed. Low power prevents edge browning. Great for gift tags and paper decorations. The S6 Pro handles paper very well and is a good machine for paper crafters who are starting out with lasers.
Cork engraves cleanly at 38%. The S6 Pro is actually well-suited to cork — the low wattage is an advantage here, preventing over-burning. Great for coasters and trivets. Consistent marks across the full cork surface at these settings.
Single-wall corrugated cardboard cuts in one pass. Keep power high and don't slow down further — at 6W you need all the power available for clean cuts. Good for stencils and prototyping. Never leave unattended when cutting cardboard.
Removes anodising at 85%. At 6W it's slower than higher-power machines but the result is the same — bare aluminium revealed cleanly. No coating needed. Good for occasional dog tags and keyrings, but not fast enough for high-volume tumbler production.
Good white engrave on slate. Invert your image first. Even at 6W the S6 Pro produces satisfying results on slate — it's one of the easiest materials for low-power diodes. Wipe clean with a damp cloth after to reveal contrast.
Leather engraves beautifully at 52%. Even 6W is more than sufficient for surface marking on leather — the material absorbs the diode wavelength efficiently. One of the S6 Pro's best use cases. Keep power below 70% to avoid cutting through thin pieces.
4 passes at full power barely cuts 3mm basswood — results are unreliable with heavy charring. The S6 Pro is an engraving machine, not a cutter. Limit cutting to 2mm balsa or thin card. For wood cutting, a 20W+ machine is the right tool.
The S6 Pro's 6W module engraves wood cleanly. 60% at 3000mm/min gives a warm brown mark. A solid entry-level engraver for personalised gifts and small craft items. For darker marks increase to 75%. The S6 Pro punches above its weight for engraving given its low price.
Opaque/cast black acrylic only — clear acrylic passes straight through 450nm diode. The S6 Pro needed 10 passes at 600mm/min vs S6 needing 16, per hobbylasercutters review. Constant power mode. Remove protective paper after cut.
Smooth uniform density — good for signs and plaques. Consistent material means predictable results. Slightly higher power than basswood needed. Dynamic power mode.
Community-tested: 200mm/min, 80%, 4 passes gives clean result in ~1.5h. Alternatively: 600mm/min, 70%, 10 passes for less charring in ~1.2h. Air assist upgrade cuts passes by ~1/3. MDF produces heavy fumes — ventilate well.
What materials can the Sculpfun S6 Pro engrave or cut?
The Sculpfun S6 Pro has community-tested settings for 3mm Mirrored Acrylic, 3mm Clear Acrylic (Cast), 3mm Maple Plywood, Rubber Stamp Material, Denim Fabric, Cotton Fabric, Chipboard 2mm, Ceramic Tile, and 30 more. Results vary by material batch, focus, and ambient conditions — always test on scrap first.
What settings should I use to cut Denim Fabric on the Sculpfun S6 Pro?
A community-tested starting point is speed 600 mm/min, power 95% in a single pass. Always run a test cut on scrap to confirm before committing to your project.
Can the Sculpfun S6 Pro engrave metal?
Diode lasers can mark anodized aluminium, coated metals, and powder-coated surfaces without any spray. For bare steel, brass, or copper you need a marking compound like Cermark or Dry Moly. Fiber lasers mark bare metal directly without any coating.
"Used it with a Glowforge — engraved beautifully with no changes. I will be purchasing more digital downloads from this shop."
