Tinted acrylic cuts cleaner than clear on diode lasers because the pigment absorbs the beam. Air assist prevents melt-back.
Spray Painted Metalengrave
Speed3000 mm/minPower70%Passes1DPI300
Ablates spray paint to reveal bare metal. Thinner than powder coat so needs less power. Reduce power if paint splatters. Clean with IPA first.
Powder Coated Steelengrave
Speed2800 mm/minPower75%Passes1DPI300
Ablates powder coat to expose bare metal. Clean with IPA first. Black powder coat gives highest contrast. No Cermark needed.
Coated / Powder Coated Steelengrave
Speed2800 mm/minPower75%Passes1DPI300
Ablates powder coat to reveal bare metal beneath. Works on powder coated panels, signs, and flat stock. Clean with IPA first. Black powder coat gives highest contrast. No Cermark needed — laser burns off the coating directly.
3mm Mirrored Acrylic
Speed6000Passes1DPI254
Engrave from the BACK side for a clean mirrored result.
EVA foam cuts cleanly in one pass at 55%. Low-medium power prevents excessive melting at the cut edge. No air assist. EVA releases fumes — maximum ventilation required. Great for foam stamps, cosplay props, and protective padding inserts.
Felt cuts cleanly on the 33W S30 Pro. No air assist to prevent material blowing. Wool felt gives cleaner edges than synthetic. Good for ornaments, applique, and laser-cut embellishments.
Chipboard 2mmcut

Chipboard cuts very easily on the S30 Pro — one fast clean pass. Great starting point for packaging prototypes and stencils. Air assist on. Excellent results at high speed.
Cotton Fabriccut
Speed700 mm/minPower65%Passes1
★★★★★
Cotton cuts on the S30 Pro at moderate speed. Keep air assist off to avoid blowing fabric. Use a pin board or honeycomb to hold material flat. Slightly singed edges — test your specific cotton weight. Natural cotton cuts cleaner than polyester blends.
Bambooengrave
Speed3500 mm/minPower55%Passes1

Bamboo engraves well on the S30 Pro. Harder than wood so slightly more power needed. 55% at 3500mm/min gives good contrast. Very popular material for the Sculpfun community — cutting boards, coasters, and utensils. Line interval 0.1mm recommended.
Cedar cuts cleanly in one pass on the 33W S30 Pro — soft grain cooperates well. Air assist helps manage the aromatic smoke. Beautiful reddish cut edges. Strong ventilation required. Single-pass cutting is a key advantage of the 33W module.
Cedar engraves beautifully on the S30 Pro — the 33W diode is well-matched to cedar's softness. Low power gives rich contrast without burning. Aromatic smoke is heavy — use good extraction. Beautiful for home décor, jewelry boxes, and aromatic products.
Alder engraves cleanly on the S30 Pro with fine detail. Medium-density hardwood is forgiving of small power variations. Consistent mark depth. Good for signage, awards, and gift items requiring fine text.
Pine cuts reliably in 2 passes on the S30 Pro at full power. Soft grain makes it one of the better softwoods for 33W diode cutting. Air assist required to manage resin smoke and prevent flare-ups.
Pine's resin content gives excellent contrast on the S30 Pro's 33W diode. Fast engrave at 40% produces warm brown marks. Avoid high power on pine to prevent resin burning. Good ventilation required — pine smoke is heavy with aromatic oils.
Cherry is a great pairing for the S30 Pro — fine grain gives crisp engraving at 33W. 48% at 4000mm/min produces a warm caramel mark. Very consistent results. One of the best materials for high-quality gift engraving on a diode machine.
Oak engraves well on the 33W Sculpfun S30 Pro. Dense hardwood absorbs the diode at 55% power. Rich brown contrast with fine grain detail. Increase to 65% for a darker mark. Use the S30 Pro's air assist for a cleaner result on denser wood.
33W diode; scale up from S9 baseline — community recommends staying under 85–90% max power to preserve tube life. 3000–4000 mm/min at 85% power produces clean marks on black anodize. S30 Pro has built-in auto air assist (LightBurn controlled). Cork engraves cleanly at very low power and high speed. At 33W, 25% is the sweet spot — higher power burns through the cork surface. The S30 Pro's large bed fits a full set of 6 coasters in one job. Engrave at speed to prevent heat build-up in the cork surface.
Two passes for 6mm MDF with the S30 Pro. MDF fumes are toxic — good extraction is essential. The built-in air assist makes a significant difference to edge quality and reduces char. The large bed means you can cut full A4+ MDF panels in one job.
Cardboard cuts instantly at low power on the S30 Pro. The large 600×600mm bed is excellent for full-size packaging prototypes and flat-pack box designs. Keep power well below 40% to avoid ignition risk from the high wattage. Never leave unattended when cutting cardboard.
Removes powder coat cleanly in one pass. Use a rotary attachment with correct steps-per-mm calibrated in LightBurn. The S30 Pro's power means tumbler engraving is fast. Clean tumblers with IPA before engraving for best adhesion results.
Bright white engrave on slate. Invert your image first. The S30 Pro's large bed fits 9 standard 10×10cm coasters in a 3×3 grid — run the whole batch in one job. Wipe clean with a damp cloth after to reveal the full contrast of the white marks against dark stone.
Two passes through 2mm veg-tan leather. The built-in air assist makes a noticeable difference to cut edge quality. Leather fumes require good ventilation — open-frame machines like the S30 Pro need good room airflow or a dedicated enclosure/extractor.
Rich dark engrave at 32% on veg-tan leather. At 33W keep power low for leather — it's easy to over-burn. 32% at 6000mm/min gives deep contrast without cutting through standard 2mm leather. The large bed lets you engrave multiple leather pieces simultaneously.
Baltic birch cuts consistently in one pass. The void-free core and the S30 Pro's power mean reliable results across the full 600mm wide sheet. Excellent for jig templates and production parts where you need zero failed cuts.
6mm basswood in one pass — this is the S30 Pro's headline capability. Air assist is built in and essential for this cut depth. Focus carefully at the top surface. A significant advantage over 20W diodes which need 3-4 passes for the same material.
Very fast raster at 8000mm/min and 30%. The 33W module at 30% gives a warm medium-brown mark. For deeper darker marks increase to 45%. The S30 Pro's large 600×600mm bed is excellent for batch engraving — set up a full sheet of coasters and run them all in one job.
The S30 Pro's 33W compressed beam cuts 3mm basswood in one pass — a major step up from 20W diodes. Built-in air assist keeps the kerf clean and prevents flare-ups. At 75% you preserve the tube life while still getting clean single-pass cuts. A game-changer for diode users who previously needed 2-3 passes.
