The xTool P2 is a 55W co2 laser engraver and works with xTool Creative Space. This page lists 80 community-tested settings covering speed, power, passes, air assist, and DPI across a range of materials. Always run a test cut on scrap material first — results vary depending on your material batch, focus, and ambient conditions.
The xTool P2 is a 55W CO₂ enclosed laser with a 600×310mm work area — xTool's production-tier machine aimed at small businesses and serious hobbyists. CO₂ at 55W cuts thicker material than any diode laser: 10mm plywood in one pass, 20mm with two, and thick acrylic with polished flame edges. The camera-based alignment system and pass-through slot make it well suited to batch work and oversized boards. It works with LightBurn and xTool Creative Space. If you sell laser-cut products and need throughput, the P2 is a significant step up from diode lasers.
Best for: Production-tier crafters. 55W CO₂ + 600×310mm bed + camera + pass-through = batch work and oversized boards. The right step up from a diode.
Skip if: You're a beginner — the price is steep for a first laser. Start with a diode or a 40W CO₂.

What can a CO₂ laser like the xTool P2 cut that a diode laser cannot?
CO₂ lasers can cut and engrave clear acrylic, glass (with care), fabric, and thicker wood more cleanly than diode lasers, because the CO₂ wavelength is absorbed by materials that are transparent to diode light. This makes the xTool P2 more versatile for craft and production use.
